Today is Trans Day of Visibility and I want to tak

Today is Trans Day of Visibility and I want to take this opportunity to celebrate all of the trans Slingababy consultants 🩷💜🩵 and trans families.

As a cis person, I have grown so much as a human thanks to our interactions. It has been such an honour to witness some of the transitions, to see these incredible people grow into their truer selves.
Some of them joined the Slingababy family after their transitions and hearing some of their stories has been both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

I see you, today and everyday. I see the struggles to exist in a world that is so binary and so fixed.

To quote my words from a year ago:
“I dream of a world where we can all be ourselves. I dream of a world where my bubble full of love extends to everyone. I dream of a world where power and greed stop, where people are not used as pawns against each other. Just living. Just feeling. Just loving…
I will keep repeating like a mantra: “The world needs more love, more cuddles, more kindness, more compassion, more love, more love, more love….. one cuddle at a time. One baby. One family.“
Let’s keep working. We’ve got a world to change.”

For those of you ready to be visible, I salute your courage to exist. For those of you needing to hide for longer, I send you love…

PS: I hope you also enjoy eating chocolate (today is also known in my home as “happy chocolate day”, so Happy Trans Day of Visibility and Happy Happy Chocolate Day!

We are ever so proud to announce that the lovely Bonnie from @slinging_hugs has now completed her Slingababy training!

This means that she attended the 4-day course, gathered sufficient positive feedback from her customers and completed a project to benefit the wider community.

Here are some words from Bonnie: “Meh Dai is one of the five main types of baby carriers/ slings and it's originated from where I am from in Hong Kong (Canton area in southern part of China). When I started learning about slings, I was surprised that the Cantonese word meh dai is so well known worldwide in babywearing communities. I am so so proud about this as a native Cantonese speaker and teacher! This type of carrier was still very popular when my parents were children and started to fade away in the 80s. I'm actually working on more research to find out the history of meh dai and hopefully can write a blog or even a short research paper on it!”

When Bonnie is not working as a carrying consultant, she is a theatre-maker and performing arts researcher! Bonnie is originally from Hong Kong and lives in London now.

Just a bit louder for those at the back!

If you think that carrying will make your parenting journey harder, you are not looking at the long-term effects of secure attachment…
I know it’s hard, I know you/others want to blame it on something, but sometimes you just have to acknowledge it is hard because it is hard! Carrying will support the hard moments and help your child feel safe.

In the meantime, try and enjoy the ride 😘
